I am sure most of us can remember back to these days when the most technological thing on our phones was ‘snake. In fact the older people amongst us may remember the days before mobile phones even had the text message facility. That’s right; mobile phones were originally just that – portable ways to make phone calls. Now a days of course they offer so much more.
Even the most basic mobile phones now usually come with colour screen, an array of games and a decent digital camera built in. Of course the type of camera that you get and the other added extras that are built in depend on your budget. These phones are available on the high street and will sort most people who want a mobile phone just for making and receiving calls.
However you can step it up a gear and go for a newer smart phone. These mobile phones are probably best likened to a mini laptop. For example the Blackberry has a way to receive and send emails using push technology (you can send and receive them immediately). You can also browse the internet, download applications to use the likes of Yahoo and MSN messenger and even download maps to help you find your way. This comes on top of the usual digital camera, phone book, games and other extras that mobile phones come with as standard.
These smart phones (such has the iPhone) come with the facility to download applications. That means that you can download features for your phone to make it even better for you. These will be different to the applications your friends and family have because they suit you. Mobile phones now come with some many extras that they are simply more than just a mobile phone.

But one of the reasons that exercising is so powerful is not just because of how good it is at burning calories directly, but also because it ups the bodies metabolism. It is the metabolism that decides how many calories you burn when you are doing things, such as exercising, and even when you are resting.

Getting Fit for Charity
If you need a really worthwhile goal for getting fit then it is a good idea to plan on doing a charity event. You could do something independently and plan a sponsored run, walk or other event and drum up the sponsorship money all by yourself. However, you could consider joining a charity event. There are lists of charity events, which tend to be walks and runs and you can represent your favourite charity and earn money for them. This is a great way to do something good but it should also inspire you to keep going with your training because you will know that you are going to earn money for a good cause. If you have an event that you are taking part in that that should act as a goal for you as well, encouraging you to keep up with your training better than if you had no goal. There may be a charity that you always support or one that you hold close to your heart. If so then take a look at their websites to see whether there are any events that they organise that you can run or walk. Doing a big event means that you will be with other like minded people which should encourage you to complete the course and make it a lot more fun

America is Overweight
You can’t turn on the television these days or the radio and not hear about a weight loss program, some new miracle herb, weight loss surgery or a gym that offers personal one on one training. America is obsessed with losing weight, getting rid of body fat, losing love handles or toning and tightening up your muscles. How about those commercials on six pack abs, or buns of steel? We’ve all seen those and even more commercials on work out equipment like the bowflex, or Nordic track, or easy to store tread mills and elliptical machines.
Over weight people and children are on a rise in America. You see them on the street and on the news and obesity in children is getting worse by the day. People will tell you that it is because we don’t teach our children how to play outside or teach them how to eat healthy. Society will tell you that it is because we let them sit in front of televisions and play video games. Well that is no longer an excuse. Many of the gaming consoles now have fitness programs that allow you or your children to become interactive with the game. Wii is a prime example. You hear people everyday that use it to weigh in every morning, exercise and of course play games.
There are so many programs out there now to help with weight loss, and you can even sign up through the internet and keep track and up to date on line. Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig and NutriSystem all allow you to work through the internet. There are herbs you can take as well and lose weight, diet pills and other supplements are also available. However, when you get right down to losing weight, the program you choose has to be one that works for you and your lifestyle. Talk to your doctor and have a complete physical before starting any weight loss program. Find out what the doctor suggests and then find a program with his help that will benefit you. Being over weight is serious and can cause many, many health problems from heart disease, high blood pressure, back and joint pain, and diabetes. Remember you can’t lose weight and keep it off without changing some aspects of your life style and adding in healthy eating habits and exercise. Starting out slow is best and making a few changes at a time. No one says you have to give up everything at once and go cold turkey. Adding in a fruit or vegetable serving a day, or cutting out sodas is a good way to start. Be practical and healthy with your choice and if you have any problems, don’t wait go see your doctor.

Fitness and Weight Loss
It is possible to lose weight without exercising but it is much easier to lose it and to maintain weight loss if you do exercise. This is because exercise will burn off calories and so they will not turn to fat in your body. This means that when you are trying to lose weight, the fat on your body will disappear more quickly and it means that your weight will get down more quickly. If you are trying to maintain weight loss, the exercise will make sure that the extra food you are likely to be eating, will not turn to fat and make you gain weight. It will also help you to sculpt that figure you have worked so hard to achieve. Getting fit is not the same as exercising but either will help you, Exercising tones muscles but to get fit you will need to work your heart which means that you will need to be doing an activity which gets you out of breath regularly. The British Heart Foundation suggest that doing 30 minutes of exercise five or more days a week. Obviously build up to this but it is a great goal to aim for to ensure that your body and heart are at peak fitness. If you are losing weight because you want to have an overall healthier lifestyle then getting fitter should naturally make up part of that lifestyle change.

Setting a fitness Goal
If you want to get fit then it is a good idea to set a fitness goal. This will encourage you to keep up with your training. You might like to run in a particular race, join a sports team or lose some weight. Whatever you might like to do then keep it in mind and that will help you to achieve your goal. Goal setting has been shown to really improve our chances of achieving things and if you decide to set a goal then you are far more likely to keep up with your fitness routine because you will have something to work towards. Writing your goal down has been shown to be a huge factor in achieving it, it proves to yourself that you are committed to that goal. If you look at the goal regularly that will also keep reminding you of what you are working towards and help to improve your motivation. It is important to think about the advantages to you of achieving that goal, how will it improve your life, how will it make you feel when you reach it etc. This should help you be much more determined. Lastly you need to believe that you can achieve it, imagine you reaching it and the emotion that you will feel and that will really help.
